Burnley midfielder Danny Drinkwater has suffered a freak injury away from the training ground.

The Clarets will not state how the incident occurred, but Drinkwater is expected to miss six weeks of action, according to The Sun.

The 29-year-old is on loan from Chelsea and hasn't played a Premier League match in 18 months.

He made his debut for Burnley in the EFL Cup loss to Sunderland last month.
