Burnley midfielder Cork thrilled to end goal drought for win at Watford

Burnley midfielder Jack Cork was delighted to score in victory at Watford.

It was his first goal in over three years as the Clarets won 2-1 at Watford.

He said: “It just happened! I saw Charlie [Taylor] running down the line and just hoped that he might overhit it a little bit. No one tracked me, and to be honest I thought I was going to smash into the post, but Browny [Josh Brownhill] scored as well and he's been brilliant recently.

“I'm just happy for everyone, it's been a tough couple of weeks, but we've all pulled together. Hopefully we can push on till the end of the season.

“It's a massive part of this club that when things aren't going our way, we pull together. It's not only been in the last couple of weeks that that's happened and been the case."

Cork continued: “In the first half, we were sloppy. We let them score a goal and didn't really do what we set out to do.

“We never gave up though and were the better team in the second half. We had a lot of chances, and we were unlucky not to get a couple more [goals] before I scored the equaliser.

“I'm just over the moon. It's been a great week for us, and hopefully we just keep going."
