Burnley keeper Pope: Xhaka red-card changed the game

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope admits Granit Xhaka's red-card changed the complexion of their clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

The Clarets eventually won the match 1-0 thanks to an own goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The goal came after Xhaka was given his marching orders for grabbing Ashley Westwood's throat.

"Over the last few years we have come close when we have come here to beat them but this felt like the right night and we picked out opportunities. We have put together some good opportunities now.

"There were a couple that were close to me and I had covered. It was nice to get on the end of a few saves and the clean sheet is massive for us.

"Sometimes when a team goes down to 10 men it is difficult because the expectation changes. It was probably the changing moment of the game with the momentum and after that I think we calmed it down.

"No-one wants to look at the TV and see yourself below the dotted line so it is nice but there is a long way to go."
