Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton feels they ran Manchester United close in midweek.
Former United keeper impressed for the Clarets.
"The lads deserve massive credit," said the goalkeeper to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"Obviously the result wasn't ideal but to go there and play like that at Old Trafford - a lot of the lads' first time playing there - they deserve massive credit.
"I just think it's important that we use that going forward.
"I thought we were excellent really. In the first half we played some really good football. It certainly felt quiet at my end for the majority of the half.
"It was a nice feeling to go back there. I saw a few of the staff but there are not that many players left from when I was there, believe it or not. There are only three or four players, I said hello to a couple of the lads.
"But the important thing was to try to get a result for Burnley and get the performance right."
