Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope: Empty Turf Moor hurting us

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope admits this season's stadium lockout has hurt their home form.

A 2-1 defeat to West Ham means Burnley are without a victory in eight home games – equalling their longest winless home run as a top-flight club.

“We do miss them," said the Clarets' goalkeeper of the absent Turf Moor support.

“It can be a bit of an intimidating place to come.

“I've been told that by a lot of different people, when I meet up with England or people who come to games.

“They (the fans) make it really difficult for other teams. That's a percentage of it, although it's the same for everyone.

“We've done better on the road – which is a positive – and something we'll look to put right in the last two games.

“I think it does benefit some teams playing in front of no crowds and I think it knocks some teams back.

“It's been like that all season so it's no excuse. We have put good points on the board and done really well and it's something that hopefully by next season will be back to its old self."
