Burnley fight delights Dyche

Burnley manager Sean Dyche praised his side after they produced a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Clarets fell behind late in the first half when Joe Cole netted for the visitors but they fought back at Turf Moor to grab a share of the points courtesy of an 87th-minute penalty from Danny Ings.

Dyche believes his Burnley side could have snatched victory, which would have given them three wins in a row, but was not too perturbed by the positive performance of his improving team.

"I thought we were going to go on and win the game because of the chances we created," Dyche told Sky Sports.

"I thought the game was quite even. They're a good side. Lots been made of them having a tough run, but they're still a good side.

"We knew it was still be a big challenge today but I thought we had some real good play and pockets of what we hope to be about going forward.

"The quality of the chances we had going forward was there for all to see and you come away at the end wondering how we didn't win it, but I must make it clear it was a real balanced game and it could have gone either way.

"They slowed the game down after going a goal up, but we managed to find a foot hold in the game and deliver a good performance in the end."

The draw extended Burnley's unbeaten streak to three matches and has them sitting second bottom on the Premier League table, a point clear of Leicester City, who dropped to the foot following their 3-2 loss at QPR.
