Burnley are eyeing Sheffield United defender Chris Basham.

The Daily Mail says the 33-year old is a huge favourite at Bramall Lane after spending seven years there but, despite talk of a new contract being close to agreement, he has still to receive a formal offer and is having to weigh up other options.

Wolves and his boyhood club Newcastle United showed interest in the summer but were put off by Sheffield United's valuation.

Basham has been happy to stay since and has spoken openly about his desire to help the club return to the top flight under Paul Heckingbottom.

However, at his age and with five months left on his deal, his next contract is an important one.
