Burnley eyeing Reading striker Carroll after Wood departure

Burnley could turn to former Newcastle striker Andy Carroll as they look to replace Chris Wood - who has signed for Newcastle.

The Clarets are without a key forward for the rest of the season, as the Magpies paid Wood's buyout clause and quickly concluded a permanent transfer.

According to the Daily Mail, Reading striker Carroll, who is out of contract in January, is someone manager Sean Dyche is assessing.

Carroll has been free from injuries since signing in November, and has scored a goal in seven matches.

The 33-year-old signed on a very modest contract to prove his fitness, and will be delighted to receive interest from a Premier League club.
