Burnley cruise past rivals Blackburn

Burnley have defeated their neighbours Blackburn 2-1 to advance to the third round of the Carabao Cup.

With a huge police presence in the ground for the East Lancashire derby, Jack Cork gave the travelling Clarets fans exactly what they asked for after opening the scoring with just under half an hour played.

Robbie Brady wrapped things up for Sean Dyche's men in the first half added time when fired home from a tight angle.

Burnley face a tough challenge on Sunday when they travel to Wembley to take on Tottenham Hotspur.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche reflected after the game: "There were a lot of good performances tonight. A lot was made about whether I would change the team tonight and I made it clear, we are not resting players.

"It's not about resting players. They don't need a rest now, but we need everyone fit and sharp because the Premier League is a very, very tough league.

"You need to be physically and mentally right and what a great game to allow you that."
