Burnley close to agreeing Edgar terms with Newcastle

Burnley are close to agreeing a fee with Newcastle United for young defender David Edgar.

Edgar signed from the Magpies in the summer at the end of his contract, after the club were relegated to the Championship.

However, as, as 22, he is below the age of 24, there has to be some compensation paid under the Bosman ruling, and the clubs have been negotiating a deal.

Owen Coyle expects an agreement to be reached "in the next couple of weeks", says the Burnley Express.
