Burnley chief Pace defends January market work

Burnley chief Alan Pace says the club did all they could to strengthen in January.

The Clarets signed Wouf Weghorst from Wolfsburg to replace Chris Wood, who joined Newcastle United during the winter window.

Speaking in his programme notes ahead of Saturday's draw with Watford, Pace said: "January is a notoriously difficult window and as a club we did, and in future windows will continue to do, everything we can to get the right players through the door.

"We were all delighted to welcome Netherlands international Wout Weghorst, who completed his move from VfL Wolfsburg on Monday.

"The centre forward has made 369 professional appearances at club level, has 160 goals to his name and is capped 12 times by his country, making him an exciting addition to the Clarets family

"Wout linked up with Sean and the squad earlier this week and it's fantastic to have such a great talent with terrific goalscoring pedigree in Germany on board."
