Burnley chief Garlick won't consider staff furlough

Burnley chief Mike Garlick insists he won't furlough staff, despite recently admitting the club could lose £50m due to coronavirus pandemic.

Spurs, Norwich City, Bournemouth and Newcastle United have all applied to put their non-playing staff on furlough leave, which means the government will cover 80 per cent of their wages.

"It's a conversation we have had over the last week," Garlick told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"We have taken the decision - certainly short to medium term - that ourselves and the club will fund non playing staff. We will not be furloughing them."
