Burnley boss Dyche positive in Southampton defeat

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was left frustrated after their 1-0 home defeat to Southampton.

Danny Ings returned to Turf Moor to earn Southampton all three points with an early goal in a tight affair.

And Dyche feels his troops were deserving of more as the Clarets battled in vain with limited numbers once again.

“It is a challenge for this period, but we will be getting players back fit, which is important, but with all the injuries we have we did expect this first few games to be a challenge," admitted the Burnley boss.

“I'm pretty pleased overall. We got off to a bad start and defensively it was a poor goal to concede, when we normally deal with those situations well, but that was probably their only real effort.

“They were better in the first half, but in the second half I was really pleased.

“We dominated, did ask questions and mainly it was the final cross of the final effort, that was not there.

“Good deliveries were going into the box that we didn't quite get on the end of, so it was frustrating.

“We deserved something from the game, but alas we didn't."
