Burnley boss Dyche fires back at McGinn: It's a very nice coat - and I've had it for only 2 years!

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has laughed off his exchange with Aston Villa midfielder John MGinn earlier this season.

Dyche is reported to have said to the Scotland international: “So you've been in the Premier League for one season and you think you're proper big time, telling me to 'shut up?'.

McGinn is said to have replied: “You've been in the Premier League for six seasons and you're still wearing the same s*** coat, you big p***k!".

The exchange was brought up during Dyche's appearance on talkSPORT this week.

"There were a couple of things said between us – but what goes on the pitch stays on the pitch. There's was nothing untoward, it was all friendly fire," he said.

“I worked with his brother Stevie down at Watford. He was a really good player and had some very unfortunate injuries.

“I was remarking on that and he made a couple of remarks. But that used to be standard!

“It makes a story now, it's bizarre. It was just a bit of light-hearted fun in a serious moment.

“But I've got no problem with that. It would actually be quite pleasant if there's more of that.

“Nowadays it would be more like 'can you get a shirt signed for me?' That's as passionate as it gets.

“And by the way, if he did allegedly say that – I'm not going to say whether he did or didn't – it's a very nice coat I'll have him know!

“And I haven't had it for six years, I've had it for about two."
