Mike Rigg has been named new technical director of Burnley.
Although manager Sean Dyche admitted to having targets in mind to add to his squad in the new year, he insists that Rigg - who starts his new role at Barnfield on Monday – is an appointment very much for the long term.
The Burnley boss said: “Mike is coming in and he will give us a new set of eyes and add to the thought process.
“To make it clear, we are not looking for him to come in and miraculously hand over seven players.
“We are looking for a longer reward than that and the bigger picture on the recruitment side.
“Everybody knows that January is a really, really tough window and it's forever problematic for players.
“There are certain people we are interested in, but we'll just have to wait and see."
