Burnley boss Dyche delighted with defending for Cardiff win

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was delighted with the way they handled Cardiff City for their win in Wales.

Sam Vokes and Johan Berg Gudmundsson struck for the victory.

Dyche said: “It was a very hard-fought win, that's for sure. Neil (Warnock) is someone I know and respect and his teams never make it easy and we had to work hard for everything we got today.

“They were the better side in the first half and put us right out of our rhythm. We were a little bit better in the second half but the will and demand of the group was excellent today and we remained resilient in the face of the ball coming into the box from all areas.

“I've no problem with that, by the way, because there's a lot of noise about the right way to play, but the right way is an effective one that can win.

“But we handled their balls intro the box very well, I thought and kept them to a minimum, and when needed Joe Hart played his part.

“We did feel, especially in the second half when we calmed down, that we could find pockets of play to be effective and I was very pleased with the two goals - and a penalty that got away from us, but we all know we don't get them!"
