Jimmy Bullard believes Liverpool needed to go after a world-class forward to replace Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan ace joined Barcelona for around £75million in the summer of 2014 but the Merseyside club have since failed to bring in an apt replacement.
The likes of Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings have been signed by Liverpool since but former Wigan Athletic, Fulham and Hull City midfielder Bullard feels they needed to pursue someone like Neymar to fill the void left by Suarez's departure.
"They haven't bought enough. They bought ok, but Roberto Firmino has not produced," Bullard told The Express.
"They got rid of top quality and they haven't got that back.
"With the likes of Suarez going and not getting world quality, for me as a fan I want to see a world-class striker join.
"I wanted to see a Neymar or someone to replace Suarez. They took a risk with signing Danny Ings from Burnley."
