Buffon: Spurs captain Lloris was World Cup's best keeper (not Courtois)

PSG goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has urged French football to offer Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris greater recognition.

Lloris helped France to World Cup glory in Russia this summer.

And Buffon said, "I am annoyed that Hugo Lloris did not receive the trophy of the best goalkeeper of the World Cup (trophy awarded to the Belgian Thibaut Courtois).

"Because, with the exception of his mistake in the final for Croatia's second goal, Lloris made few saves, but they were all decisive. And when a team wins the World Cup with a goalkeeper who makes four or five saves in crucial moments, that goalkeeper must receive that reward.

"I think Courtois (of Chelsea) has delivered, too, a very good World Cup but France has won. So, Lloris should have received this reward. If Belgium had won the World Cup, it would have been correct to award the prize to Courtois."
