PSG goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has defended his former Juventus teammate Paul Pogba.

Before last night's Champions League defeat of United, Buffon weighed into claims Pogba assisted in the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

"I never believed in those stories of players doing everything to upset their own coach. It's a matter of empathy and I know what I'm talking about, because I was able to live it during my career," he told La Stampa.

"Paul has now gained a whole new notoriety. When I knew him, he was a very young boy, whereas now he is a young man ... with a strong personality! He has become the mainstay of Manchester United."
