Bryan Oviedo is determined to win back his place in the Everton team.
The Costa Rica defender played last month for the first time since a double leg break in January, but complained about his lack of movement.
Everton's medical staff identified medical screws put in during surgery as the potential problem.
Doctors have now removed them and Oviedo says he is now fully focused on forcing his way into boss Roberto Martinez's plans.
"I feel much better right now after I've had the screws taken out," said the 24-year-old.
"It's fantastic because before they stopped me when I ran but now I feel much better and I hope to be ready for the next games. Now I want to play.
"Sometimes it's difficult when you come back from a long injury, but at the moment I feel very good and I hope to play as quickly as possible."
