Bryan Mbeumo happy scoring in Brentford friendly after Cameroon exploits

Bryan Mbeumo is happy to be back with Brentford after his World Cup exploits.

The forward started all three of Cameroon's games in Qatar, including their 1-0 win over South American giants Brazil in their final group game.

And Mbeumo said playing at a World Cup is something every footballer dreams of.

“It was an amazing experience, something I always dreamed of. It's hard to find the words for how I felt. It's just something every footballer wants to do," he told the club's website.

“But I'm very happy to come back and I can't wait to do everything we can to perform in the league."

In his first game back for the Bees - a 2-2 friendly draw with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on Saturday - Mbeumo scored a stunning free-kick to open the scoring for Thomas Frank's side.

And the 23-year-old insisted he is ready for the return of the Premier League, when they take on Tottenham on Boxing Day.

Mbeumo said: “I've been practising a lot in training to have this moment in the game so, yeah, I'm happy."

“The game out there was very good. I was happy to be with the boys again and I think it was a good performance", he added.

"It was a draw but I think we could maybe have won the game, but it's good for next week.

“It was good for me to have some minutes after the break. I just want to try to stay fit and be ready for Boxing Day."
