Brunt calls on West Brom to build on Exeter Cup win

West Brom captain Chris Brunt has called on teammates to build on their FA Cup win over Exeter City.

It took only 75 seconds for Saloman Rondon to grab the opener and Jay Rodriguez added the second, but Hal Robson-Kanu missed a penalty while the Baggies also had two goals disallowed.

“It was always going to be difficult conditions with the way their stadium is, the wind blowing and the pitch wasn't great," said Brunt.

“But we adapted to it well in the first half, i thought we started really well and created a lot of chances to put them under pressure.

“We could have been well out of sight at half time but missed the penalty and it just takes that one mistake - obviously Ben Foster spilled that one and they hit the post just before halftime.

“That reminded us that we were still in a game, and credit to the lads because we dug in during the second half even though we didn't play as well as we could have done.

“All in all it was a game we needed to win. Obviously we're on a horrendous run in all competitions, so it was nice to break that duck and hopefully we can take a bit of confidence into the Brighton game next week."
