Hull City boss Steve Bruce says Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic will lift standards on and off the pitch.

The pair have been excellent for Hull since arriving last month.

Bruce said: "They will help us not just as players but because of the work and attitudes they have got. They are a good folds for each other, and we have got to find a system of playing two strikers up top because not many do. I have always said you are only as good as your strikers and those two are very good for us, especially as a newly promoted side.

"We tried in the summer for Long and kept persevering, kept on at him. It was terrific to get him. I was shocked, really shocked because I thought we would have more competition but the kid wanted to come to us."
