Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will be taking the Carling Cup seriously as they prepare to face West Ham on Tuesday. Bruce is treating the Carling Cup with respect as he feels Sunderland are capable of going all the way to Wembley.
Asked about how he would be prioritising the Carling Cup, Bruce told Sky Sports News: "Well I have said it since I walked in through the door here we have got to treat the cup with the utmost respect.
"We have got a home tie against Premier League opposition and we want to try and get through to the next round - it's as simple as that.
"We are capable of winning a trophy and if I am going to be honest I don't think we are going to win the Premier League but we have got a chance in the cup.
"You can win five, six games and any Premier League side can do that so we will be treating it very, very seriously and putting out a team that will merit that."
