Newcastle United scrapped into the EFL Cup quarter-finals by the skin of their teeth thanks to a penalty shootout win over Newport County.
The League Two side looked set for a shock upset when Tristan Abrahams put them ahead after just five minutes.
But Jonjo Shelvey popped up with three minutes remaining to equalise for the Magpies.
Newport defender Brandon Cooper missed the decisive penalty by blasting over the bar.
And speaking after the game, Toon boss Steve Bruce admitted his side were fortunate to progress.
"We knew after watching them how they were," the Englishman said.
"You can see how they beat Watford, Middlesbrough, Leeds and Leicester - they have turned them all over.
"You can understand why. They perform so well for a lower division team.
"They got the early goal and if they didn't have belief it gave them more.
"We found it difficult, hats off to them. I didn't think with the way it was going we'd get the breakthrough."
