Brother expects Birmingham ace Ferguson to make Scotland return

The brother of Birmingham City star Barry Ferguson believes he hasn't completely shut the door on a Scotland return.

Derek Ferguson told how the ex-Rangers captain agonised over his international future when new Scots boss Craig Levein invited him back following his ban for Bevvygate and his v-sign shame at Hampden.

Birmingham star Fergie rejected Levein's olive branch and Derek told the Scottish Sun: "Barry's made the decision at the moment.

"But there are other bigger and better players than Barry who have done it, so you never know in the future about a u-turn.

"Whether certain sections of the support would want it is another matter.

"But you never say never. You don't know how things might change.

"He might start to feel good in himself, the family might move down. Who knows?

"He's retired from the international scene just now, but you look at other countries and people do come back and play. So I wouldn't say the door's shut forever."
