Brooking: Tottenham defender King likely to miss next England game

England technical chief Sir Trevor Brooking admits Tottenham defender Ledley King is likely to miss the Algeria game.

King came off with a groin problem and Brooking - speaking from the squad's training base in South Africa - admitted the Tottenham defender would be unlikely to play against Algeria in England's next Group C game on Friday.

"He had a groin injury and he will have a scan to see the severity of that," Brooking said. "It will probably be tight I would have thought for the next game.

"Jamie (Carragher) filled in yesterday and then you have Matthew Upson and Michael Dawson so we are pretty well covered in central defence. But at the moment, Ledley might struggle to make the Algeria game."
