Bristol City carry on with new stadium plans

Bristol City say their new stadium plans are unchanged following Russia's 2018 World Cup bid victory, reports Sporting Life. England representatives were in Zurich on Thursday to try to persuade FIFA to bring the tournament to these shores again, with City's proposed new stadium at Ashton Vale set to be one of the venues.

"We will keep the momentum going. This in no way alters our plans to make sure this city gets the world-class stadium it so rightly deserves," said chief executive Colin Sexstone.

"The World Cup would have been just one of the many events the stadium can host and we remain utterly focused in our plans to bring the new stadium to Bristol. Bristol deserves nothing less."
