Brisbane Roar step aside for U2

Brisbane Roar's December 8 home fixture against Perth Glory will be played away from Suncorp Stadium following the announcement U2 will play a concert at the venue on the same night.

Brisbane have been aware of the possibility of the clash of dates for some time but only received confirmation from Suncorp Stadium on Friday.

The club has been working with Suncorp Stadium management closely on alternative arrangements for the fixture.

Roar CEO Peter McLennan said fans would be informed of an alternative venue as soon as one had been confirmed.

"Obviously we would prefer to play at our home venue, but that is not possible," McLennan said.

"We have been working hard to secure an alternative venue for the fixture and we'll continue to do so.

"We are working with Suncorp Stadium management and keeping Football Federation Australia informed of our progress.

"Once an alternative has been signed off on, we will make an announcement to give our fans plenty of time to make arrangements to attend the match."
