Werder Bremen striker Davie Selke admits he came close to moving to the Premier League last month.

Selke joined Werder in the final days of the January market from Hertha Berlin on an 18 month loan, however he was also linked with Brighton during the transfer window.

"It was almost England," he told BILD.

"Because it was always said that the move to Bremen was not financially possible. I say this very clearly: I would have chosen England for any other request from the Bundesliga. The Premier League excites me extremely. But Werder is special for me."
