Brighton striker Neal Maupay: It was a penalty

Brighton striker Neal Maupay insists they were robbed of a penalty in their 2-0 defeat at home to Leicester City.

Albion's French striker was sent tumbling in the box after a challenge by Wes Morgan, but referee Mike Dean indicated the Leicester defender played the ball, and a VAR check didn't overturn Dean's decision.

However, Maupay felt he was impeded and Albion should have been awarded a spot kick – and with the score 1-0 at the time, it could have offered them a route back into the game.

When asked by reporters if he felt it was a penalty, Maupay was emphatic, “Definitely. I need to watch the replay again, but I thought it was a penalty because he tripped me from behind.

“I didn't go down by myself, but that's life. It's not down to that, that we lost. We now need to move on, as we've got another tough one on Saturday."
