Brighton striker Maupay: I'm so happy for Welbeck after Chelsea goal

Brighton striker Neal Maupay was delighted with their 1-1 draw at Chelsea last night.

The Frenchman scored stoppage-time goals to earn points against West Ham and Southampton earlier this month and this time it was Danny Welbeck who struck late on in the 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Wednesday that lifted Albion into the top half of the table going into Sunday's game at Everton.

Maupay said: “The four points from the last two games will give us a lot of confidence.

“We've been playing well and we showed that against a top side on Wednesday. It will give us a lot of momentum going to Everton on Sunday.

“We thoroughly deserved a draw against Chelsea. Everyone was expecting us to lose but we played really well, sticking to our game plan and creating chances. We never give up and that's why we score so many late goals."

Welbeck has come off the bench to equalise with his second goal of the campaign.

“I'm so happy for Danny," said Maupay. “He's been unlucky with injuries this season but he's a top player and a great professional. It was a great night him and for us."
