Brighton striker Locadia: Schreuder convinced me about Hoffenheim

Brighton striker Jurgen Locadia is delighted playing for Alfred Schreuder at Hoffenheim.

Locadia admits he wouldn't have landed the loan move without Schreuder's influence - who called him directly about making the switch to Germany last summer.

He told AD: "He knew my situation at Brighton, where I had ups and downs and never played a long series of games in a row.

“I need that to be able to get the best out of myself, as I succeeded at PSV. The conversation was pleasant. The trainer touched me because he had studied my situation very well and was able to convince me that I would fit in the team with my qualities."

Locadia is spying a place in Holland's Euros squad next summer.

He added: "Just like the Premier League, the Bundesliga is a much stronger competition than the Eredivisie and it's up to me to take my chances."
