Brighton slap record price-tag on Liverpool target Ben White

Brighton have slapped a record price-tag on defender Ben White.

Mirror says Brighton have reportedly slapped a £50million price tag on defender Ben White amid speculation Liverpool could turn their attention to the former Leeds centre-half as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

Dutchman Van Dijk is facing several months on the sidelines after suffering a potentially season-ending knee injury in the Reds' Merseyside derby draw with Everton.

The former Southampton man was clattered by Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in a horror lunge, but managed to escape punishment after the VAR adjudged Van Dijk to have been in an offside position.

Liverpool made an enquiry over White's availability in the summer but decided not to pursue their interest after being quoted a similar price.
