Brighton are pushing to sign Sheffield United defender Jack O'Connell.

The Sun says Seagulls boss Chris Hughton is looking to shore up his defence further with the acquisition of Sheffield United's dynamic defender O'Connell.

The Seagulls boss has turned to O'Connell after failing in several attempts for Reading's Liam Moore.

O'Connell was a big hit for the Blades last season and would jump at the chance of Premier League football at this stage in his career.

United are reeling from losing David Brooks to Bournemouth and may have a fight to keep O'Connell from following him out of Bramall Lane.
