Brighton midfielder Lallana: Potter will be great for Chelsea

Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana is backing Graham Potter to succeed with Chelsea.

AC Milan's visit to Stamford Bridge is arguably Potter's biggest game yet as Chelsea manager since he was tempted to make the switch from Brighton.

His first game in charge was a 1-1 draw with RB Salzburg in the Champions League, which he followed up with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

The pressure is on, with Chelsea bottom of their group and needing a win to kickstart their Champions League challenge.

Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana has backed his former boss's "unbelievable environment" to thrive at Chelsea - but only if he is given time.

"I fully expect him to a great job there," Lallana told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast. "I have no doubt, with that group of players and the talent there, he will get them firing.

"It's a cut-throat business at times and Chelsea Football Club are renowned for winning silverware. But it's a challenge he's up for, and one he's ready for."
