Brighton matchwinner Beram Kayal hailed their commitment to the cause after victory at Newcastle United.

Kayal struck the only goal of the game on Tyneside.

He said, “It's a massive win and one which we fully deserved.

“There are different ways to win matches and we've won this one by the whole team giving everything and putting their bodies on the line.

“That's back to back clean sheets for us now and our first away win of the season so it's an amazing feeling – we knew it would be a tough place to come."

The victory takes the Seagulls onto 11 points for the season, as the home side's search for a top-flight win this season continues, and Kayal reflected on the way the contest panned out.

“We knew they'd press us high because of their situation and need for points, but we managed the game well and deserved the win.

“The match went out how we anticipated – they wanted to bring players to the middle and then switch the ball to their men out on the flanks, but we kept our shape and countered when we could.

“We created some chances brilliantly today. The majority of their chances were from distance, but we put ourselves in the way bravely when we needed to and it's superb to see that."
