Brighton manager Potter wants to see fired up AMEX

New Brighton manager Graham Potter wants to see the AMEX become a fortress once again.

The Seagulls suffered four defeats in their final five home matches last season.

Potter told The Argus: "I always say the most important relationship at a football club is the one between the supporters and the players.

"If you can create an environment that is hostile for the opposition, that gives the home team extra, then of course that's what we are all trying to do.

"It's not a one-way thing, we have to provide something as well.

"That I think is the good thing about this club. While there has been a fantastic rise recently, they had a long time not in the Premier League so people understand how hard it is to get there and that every game in the Premier League is difficult and you can lose.

"We need to try to create an environment where we are all together, we are all fighting and the supporters need to see that. We need to give them that as well - they both feed off each other.

"If you can get that positive environment then of course it can help us.

"Unfortunately what happens is you move into a new stadium at a lower level, you get to a point and then the opposition gets harder and harder and it becomes more difficult.

"What we can never forget at this club is what it has been through to get there and how much we have to fight to keep it and stick together."
