Brighton manager Potter admits Alexis Argentina dilemma

Brighton manager Graham Potter will hold talks with Alexis Mac Allister about his summer international plans.

The midfielder hopes to play at both the Copa America and Olympics tournaments with Argentina.

Mac Allister is not in the Argentina squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, which puts his place in the Copa America squad in question.

But he is expected to be named in their Olympics squad, per The Argus.

Potter said: "We always have to take the discussion with the player and we will probably do that at the end of the season.

"But his focus would always be on playing for us and getting as much game time as he can.

"And then he is a very proud Argentinian.

"He wants to play for his country in whatever tournament it is.

"But that is obviously linked to how he is doing with us."

He added regarding Mac Allister's form this term: "I think he has had a good season.

"I think he will get better for this experience and he will come back strong next year.

"That's what we hope to do. The players have had a long season if you consider the back end of Project Restart.

"They have had a short break and then this season again.

"The guys who have had internationals have had no breaks at all and it has been pretty full on.

"Everyone is at a point where they need a break, a bit of a recharge and hopefully get back to normal with the supporters. They can see their families a bit more and next season can be quite exciting."
