Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele is hoping to push for a first-team spot.

But the 28-year-old knows it will be tough ousting Australia international Mathew Ryan.

He said: "Ultimately, that is what I came here to do.

"I've always wanted to play in the Premier League. I've only ever been a sub and you never know what is around the corner.

"Hopefully I keep pushing hard every day, keep improving on every aspect of my game and what will be will be.

"If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen."
