Brighton keeper Ryan halfway to clean sheets target

Brighton goalkeeper Mathew Ryan has admitted that he is only halfway to his target of clean sheets for the season.

Ryan set himself the goal of managing 11 shut outs when the campaign began.

The Australian has only managed five, with the team having six for the season. And he wants to get another one in his next game, as Brighton take on Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Ryan told The Argus: "It's a team ambition as well as an individual one.

"We have goals we set out at the start of the season across numerous aspects of the team and what we can achieve.

"Eleven clean sheets was the goal this season having got ten last season.

"This year we have been having to work harder for them and they have come along a bit slower than last season.

"We had that run of three in a row earlier in the season and then nothing after that but then Watford and again on Saturday, so hopefully we can get to that mark and, if we do, then it is going to be coupled with us being safe for next season."
