Brighton grateful to Nantes after Sporting CP drop friendly

Brighton have quickly organised a final preseason friendly with Nantes.

The Mirror says they will now play French club Nantes in their final pre-season friendly – after being let down by Sporting Lisbon, writes Hector Nunns.

The Portuguese giants have pulled out of the fixture on August 3, claiming a summer of coaching and playing staff upheaval meant they could not travel to the south coast.

The Seagulls voiced their disappointment, with a contract having been signed for the match at the Amex Stadium. But manager Chris Hughton and chief executive Paul Barber were also grateful to the Ligue 1 side for stepping in to fill the gap.
