Brighton grant Potter final say on signings

Brighton and Hove Albion will give new manager Graham Potter the final say on transfers.

As Brighton aim to push forward after a season where they barely avoided relegation, they will be hoping that Potter can make a fast start to life at the club.

He recently joined on a four-year deal from Swansea, replacing Chris Hughton.

And technical director Dan Ashworth says final say for all signings will go to the manager.

Ashworth said to reporters: "The role of the technical director is to support the head coach, through player recruitment, through making sure the staff and training ground are functioning properly to allow Graham to focus on his job, which is getting the team ready for the game on the Saturday.

"Then longer-term strategies such as the academy, loan players, young players, hoping they come through to help the player recruitment into the first-team.

"As it's been with all the head coaches I've been lucky enough to work with, it will be an open, honest transparent relationship, with anything I can do to support him.

"Any player who comes into the first-team squad will have the final sign-off by Graham. That's what the majority of clubs work to.

"You highlight the needs of the squad, around the needs of the head coach, go through the recruitment process and find options, then Graham has final sign-off."
