Brighton goalscorer Webster: Fans crucial for victory over Man City

Brighton defender Adam Webster hailed the influence of the home support for victory over champions Manchester City.

Webster struck in the stunning 3-2 win.

"It's a special night for the club," the defender said. “It was amazing to have the fans in the ground and when we went 2-0 down, if they weren't there behind us the turnaround doesn't happen. They were our 12th man.

“Even in the first half I thought we were the better side – they were down to ten men in fairness – but even without the sending off we were in their faces and the game plan definitely worked.

Manchester City are that good that them having ten men doesn't change. To go 2-0 down and turn it around shows the character and belief in the squad. It's an amazing feeling.

“It was the first time I've scored at the Amex and it's frustrating that it's taken this long to be honest! I didn't want to finish the season without scoring so it was brilliant, especially with all my family here."
