Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan concedes Everton deserved win

Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan admits they let themselves down for defeat at Everton.

The Seagulls lost 3-1 to Everton having found a way back into the game through Lewis Dunk's header.

He said: “For the majority of the game, we were second best.

“Duels, we didn't keep the ball well enough, challenges.

“We showed character to get back in the game.

“But we came out after half-time and they had a chance off the post.

“We didn't learn from the warning signs and they get their second and third they killed off the game in the end.

“There is no doubt they have got quality and good technical players and work hard for one another.

“But the onus is on us. We have had plenty of experiences to know what it takes to come to places like this and get results.

“I didn't think we stuck to our level for as long as was needed to take something from this match."
