Brighton fullback George Cox says his loan spell with Fortuna Sittard has been an eye opener.

The 22 year-old, who had a spell with Northampton Town, joined the Dutch outfit at the start of the season.

"Going to Fortuna was definitely the best thing I've done," he told the Guardian.

"I learned so much in the past year. The League Two was not the right decision. Sometimes people have to try new things and going abroad was definitely the best choice for me.

"The difference with League Two is that I come here almost every week may playing against top players. The chance to go to Ajax and PSV was the main reason why I chose this."
