Brighton eyeing Rangers fullback Tavernier

Brighton eyeing Rangers fullback James Tavernier.

The Daily Mail says Tavernier is a January target for Premier League Brighton.

The 26-year-old, who was made Rangers captain by Steven Gerrard, only signed a new contract last month and is a firm favourite at Ibrox.

However, Brighton have identified him as a player who can strengthen their Premier League squad and sent scouts to check on him during Thursday's Europa League tie with Rapid Vienna.

Tavernier was instrumental as Rangers came from behind to win 3-1, scoring a vital penalty and setting up a goal for teammate Alfredo Morelos. His performance was recognised by UEFA who named him and Morelos in their Europa League team of the week.
