Brighton defender Dunk: I'll take FA Cup defeat if it means staying up

Brighton defender Lewis Dunk is adamant they won't be making up the numbers today at Wembley.

Dunk will be out to prove he's got what it takes to play at the top level when he returns to Wembley today with Brighton for their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

Brighton last played in an FA Cup semi-final in 1983 - where they beat Sheffield Wednesday on route to a final replay defeat to Manchester United.

“People still talk about it here," Dunk told the Mirror.

“Everyone does. But I'd rather not get to the cup final if it means going down. If we get to the cup final then I want to stay up not go down like they did. It would be another talking point, another massive step for this club.

“It would be huge for this club if we reach the cup final, hopefully we can get there and then focus on the league again. Have a bonus at the end of the season, something to aim for after making sure we're safe in the Premier League."
