Brighton defender Bernardo felt they deserved more from their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.
Leandro Trossard had fired the home side ahead with a fine finish seven minutes before the interval - his third goal of the season - but the visitors levelled 15 minutes from time through Jack Grealish.
“We left ourselves exposed a bit, but I thought the second half was still tight. Sometimes in football you don't get what you deserve, and I thought that we maybe deserved more reward today.
“It was an intense game because a lot of the time I was facing guys one on one. I felt I managed to win quite a lot of those duels but I would prefer to have had a terrible match and won the three points.
"We are confident as a squad. In the second half of last season we had a problem but we know what we did wrong and we're playing better football this season and we know what we have to do. We are playing teams fighting for the same spots at the moment and I still think we have a great chance to change our situation."
