Brighton defender Ben White hoping to hear from Man Utd this summer

Brighton defender Ben White is keen to hear from Manchester United this summer.

The Manchester Evening News says White is open to the idea of moving to United this summer, though Brighton will dig their heels in over their centre-back.

United have been tracking the 23-year-old as one of their central defensive targets, as well as Villarreal's Pau Torres and Real Madrid star Raphael Varane. United did hold an interest in RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano before he agreed a move to Bayern Munich.

Sources say White sees himself at a big club like United in the next few years, having impressed last season on loan at Leeds and established himself in the Premier League this term.

But it's also understood Brighton would be very reluctant to sell one of their prize assets. White is a product of the academy at the Amex Stadium, having grown up nearby in Poole. He could command a fee well in excess of £35million.

White has made 31 appearances for Graham Potter's side in all competitions this season and is expected to start for Brighton at Old Trafford this weekend, as United welcome the Seagulls in the Premier League.
